Spare monitor dashboard
Plug a spare monitor into the PC that runs the lab, then open Uptime Kuma, Homepage, or Grafana full screen.
What you need
- A PC that already runs your lab, with a free full-size DisplayPort port. A Raspberry Pi has micro-HDMI, not DisplayPort, so this cable is for that PC, not a Pi.
- A spare monitor with a DisplayPort input, or with an adapter you already trust. This guide does not claim a DisplayPort version, a resolution, or a refresh rate for the cable.
- A cable that matches the monitor input, long enough to reach from the PC: DisplayPort to DisplayPort for a DisplayPort input.
- A lab page you already use: Uptime Kuma, Homepage, or Grafana. This guide does not install those for you.
Steps
- Confirm the free port on the lab PC is a full-size DisplayPort. If the only free port is HDMI, or you are on a Raspberry Pi, stop. This cable will not fit.
- Plug the cable from that DisplayPort port into the spare monitor. Power the monitor on.
- In the PC display settings, turn the spare monitor on as a second screen. Put the dashboard window on that screen.
- Open Uptime Kuma, Homepage, or Grafana in a browser.
- Put that page full screen on the spare monitor so it fills the view.
Keep the screen awake
Turn off sleep and the screensaver for that display, or the dashboard will blank while you are not at the desk. Leave the PC's power settings alone for the main screen if you still want that one to sleep.
